Click the Coolbar icon, then ⚙, and paste your access token from coolbar.com/settings. That’s the only setup step — no separate sign-in inside the extension itself.

Ctrl+Shift+S saves the page you’re on without opening the popup. You can also right-click a link, or a passage you’ve selected, and choose “Save with Coolbar” — that saves just the link or the selection, not the whole page.

Coolbar reads the page before saving it, and it’s honest about what it finds. A real article gets read and summarized normally. A feed (mostly headlines and links, like a homepage) or an app-like page (a dashboard, an editor) gets a warning instead, because there’s little real text to summarize. You can still save it — the button switches to “Save anyway” and keeps the link and title, it just skips pretending there was an article to read.

Select a passage and press Alt+Shift+H, or right-click and choose “Highlight with Coolbar.” It reappears when you come back to that page. If you’d like a small marker on pages you’ve highlighted, turn on “show a highlight pill” in the extension’s ⚙ settings — it’s off by default since it adds Coolbar’s own UI to someone else’s page.

The three chips above the question box — Auto, This page, and My memory — decide where an answer comes from. Auto lets Coolbar route the question itself; This page restricts it to what’s on the tab you’re looking at; My memory searches everything you’ve ever saved.

If you start a focus session from the popup, Coolbar sends a system notification when it ends — the popup is almost always closed by then, so a badge alone would be easy to miss.
